Riccardo Cenedella | Alimenta

Alimenta is an experimentation project conducted by me, into food waste and biobased material.

Food is everything that is taken in by humans and used to keep them alive. However, we throw away an average of half a kilo of food per day. This means 89 million tons of food wasted each year in Europe only.

In this project, I tapped my ability in making and I create an ad hoc material using food waste I daily produced. The outcomes question our notion of waste and production and show the possibilities of discarded material. We must create what is yet to come with what is already here. In order to prove the real value of the custom made food waste dough, I donated a piece of it to craftsmen and artists who each create an object.

All the works featured on this page are examples of custom made pieces. To commission one, see contact details for more information.
